Interview - David Croucher

This month "Dave T Dinosaur" and I met up with the man - the myth - the legend that is David Croucher. We have become good friends with Crouchie, talking and WhatsApp chatting almost every day giving each other help and advise. David is the reason I got into comedy magic so I have him to thank.
What got you interested in magic and who inspired you?
I have no idea what got me interested in magic.
I did it as a child and continued into my teens but then completely lost interest in it at about 18.
I was dry for 7 years and then picked it all up again and now to this day I am obsessed with it.

Who is your inspiration?
Believe it or not, I don't get much inspiration from other magicians (although that does play a part in it) I get my inspiration from the old-time vaudeville entertainment - high-energy dancing and slapstick.
As far as magic inspiration- I watch a whole range of magicians performing, especially the old-style traditional performers. It's so old it's almost new again.

What is French for Voila?
Voila is French for voila!
That line came from Charlie Frye - 100% stolen from him.

I perform magic shows at children's parties.
I deal with the kids very well by using balloons as a bribe.
"Sit down - anyone not sitting down doesn't get a balloon!"
I started as a magician only... Then I introduced balloons later on... Then I introduced the GIANT balloon show... Then I introduced the balloon Photo Booth. Now I am a children's party entertainer - specialising I'm magic and balloons.
