All you need to know before you join.

Important

Before attending a meeting you must complete the membership form and receive a response from a member of the council.
To become a full member you must be over 18 years of age. If you are aged between 14 and 18 years you can become a Junior member. If in doubt see the membership section of the rules page. For any parents of a junior member or prospective junior member, we have a safeguarding policy in place, our safeguarding officer is DBS checked as are several of our members.

As a prospective member, you are allowed to attend three meetings after which you will be asked to perform an 8 to 12 minute audition or an interview. These three meetings must be open evenings only (closed evenings are denoted by a small * on the diary). As closed evenings tend to be lectures, until you pass your audition you can only attend a closed evening if you are a fully auditioned member of another club and are willing to pay the visiting magician rate of £10.

To join you must pay a £10 joining fee. You must also pay the yearly subscription fee of £70 (for full adult membership), £35 (for full junior, student, associate membership).

After your audition you will receive notice within two weeks to inform you of the council's decision.

Should you pass, you will be told details of what to pay and to whom, once paid you will be awarded your Sussex Magic Circle membership badge.

Should you fail the audition, you will be given feedback as to the reasons, and we will offer advice to help you improve and recommend you re-audition in around 6 months.
